State hunting grounds
Special Purpose State Hunting Grounds were established to promote sustainable and nature-friendly management of wildlife and their habitats. Today, they operate under the Slovenian Forest Service and, with their rich history and expertise, contribute to preserving our natural heritage.
We pursue our mission and goals strategically and in collaboration with other land users. We strive for coexistence that reduces wildlife-related damage while protecting their habitats. Our efforts are reflected in the presence of three large carnivores (wolf, bear, lynx) and other rare and endangered species, showcasing the success of our approaches.
Through numerous projects and research, we have gained valuable knowledge about wildlife and other free-living species. This enables us to take targeted actions in managing wildlife populations, improving coexistence, and reducing conflicts with other land users.
Our management strategies and goals are proactive. In the future, we plan to continue collaborating with research organizations both domestically and internationally. We aim to share new knowledge and experiences with the public through education, outreach, and other activities to foster a deeper understanding of nature and its conservation.
The proactive approach of Special Purpose State Hunting Grounds is also reflected in the unique services and experiences we offer, such as educational workshops for children and youth, wildlife photography tours, listening to deer rutting calls, and other unforgettable nature experiences.
