Forest management plans
The instructions for the preparation of plans for forest management and game management prepared by the Slovenian Forestry Institute on the basis of Article 91 of the Rulebook on plans for forest management and game management (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, no. 91/ 10, 200/20). In May 2023, the ZGS received the consent of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food based on the prepared instructions.
Regional forest management plans (FMP FMR)
Slovenia is divided into 14 forest management regions (FMRs). The Slovenia Forest Service (SFS) prepares a regional forest management plan for each forest management region (FMP FMR) for a 10-year period within the framework of the public forestry service. FMP FMR is a strategic document that guides the management of forest ecosystems. FMP FMR are accepted by the Government of the Republic Slovenia.
Forest management unit plans (FMP FMU)
The forest management plan of the forest management unit (FMP FMU) is a document that guides the development of forests in the forest management unit in more detail. It presents a plan that, on the one hand, contains more general guidelines and, on the other hand, concrete measures for management at the level of individual forest stands. The elaboration of the FMP FMU is based on forest data collected as part of the forest inventory with an emphasis on field data collection. FMP FMU are accepted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food.
