Fire hazard

Fire-prone forests are forest areas with an increased level of fire risk. Forests are classified into different categories of fire risk, taking into account:

  • forest characteristics: composition of tree species, development stage;
  • factors outside the forest: mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, mean annual relative humidity, wind strength and frequency, periodicity of dry periods, type of soil, exposure, altitude, slope, objects in the forest and other features that increase the risk of fire.

The risk of fire is calculated in the framework of regional forest management plans based on the methodology from the annex to the Regulations on Forest Protection. You can view and download the areas of individual fire risk categories here.
