ECO KARST project among finalists for NATURA 2000 award
ECO KARST project (Ecosystem services of karst protected areas – driving force of local sustainable development) has been chosen as a finalist for European Commission's Natura 2000 Award in 2020. The project is being considered in the category Reconciling Interests/Perceptions.
European Natura 2000 Awards aim to honour leading nature conservation achievements and reward excellence in the management and promotion of the Natura 2000 network, as well as to raise awareness about Natura 2000 and its benefits to European citizens. This year the ECO KARST project is among the finalists for this Award. Slovenia Forest Service coordinated the project in collaboration with 11 project partners from nine Central and South-Eastern European countries. The project developed a new approach for the use of ecosystem services for better long-term, sustainable cooperation between protected area managers, nature conservationists, and local communities.
The project is thus considered for the Award of the high jury in the category of Reconciling Interests/Perceptions, as well as for the EU Citizens' Award, which will be given to the finalist with the most public votes. The link below will allow you to cast your vote and support the project:
